It was on a streetcar in downtown Columbus, Ohio that Fred Palmer, working for Carmen Mfg. which made macaroni noodles, tinware and wash boilers, met Geo B Donavin. Impressed with Mr. Donavin, Mr. Palmer offered him a sales position with Carmen Mfg. This resulted in them acquiring Carmen Mfg. and establishing The Palmer-Donavin Mfg. Co. in 1907.
The merging of their interests resulted in the disposition of the macaroni enterprise and the establishment of manufacturing business of prime sheet metal and tinware. Pots, pans, jarcaps and wash boilers were fabricated and sold to hardware and farm supply stores in the Columbus area.
