Three Ways to Keep Your Builders Happy

FacebookTwitterLinkedInEmailMessage

Let’s be honest. Very few lumber dealers wake up thinking, “I wish I had another engineered wood supplier.” What they do think about is keeping builders happy, avoiding jobsite delays, and finding solutions when things don’t go according to plan. That’s where Palmer-Donavin’s Engineered Wood team fits in.

Our goal isn’t to sell another beam or floor system. It’s to make your day, and your framer’s day, a little easier. Here are three ways we do exactly that.

1. Your Design Department

Blueprints can be time-consuming. Beam sizing, layouts, reactions, takeoffs, and floor system design all take time, and time is usually in short supply.

Our design team provides complete engineered wood support, including:

  • Floor layouts
  • Beam calculations
  • Material takeoffs
  • Product recommendations and value engineering
  • Design revisions when plans change

Whether you’re quoting a new project or need a second set of eyes on an existing plan, we’re here to help.

Even if you currently buy your EWP elsewhere, we’re happy to introduce you to our process. Many dealers send us a few plans simply to understand how we work before they ever need us on a live project. It removes the unknown and gives you another trusted resource when business gets busy.

2. Delivery Built Around the Way Dealers Actually Work

Having great products doesn’t help if they’re sitting in a warehouse. That’s why we’ve built our delivery network around predictability and flexibility.

Customers are assigned dedicated weekly engineered wood delivery days, typically one to two per week depending on location, so you know when to expect material and can better plan for your builders’ needs. Need a single beam? No problem. Need a full layout? We’ve got that covered too.

Then there’s what we like to call the “Oh Crap” Delivery. Builder short a beam? Material damaged? Forgot to order rim board? Our curtain-side fleet can deliver up to 20 pieces, 20 feet and under, helping keep jobs moving without waiting for the next scheduled engineered wood delivery. Because if you’ve been in this business long enough, you know every project eventually has an “oh crap” moment. We simply try to make those moments a little less stressful.

3. Jobsite Solutions and a Complete EWP Package

Sometimes the challenge isn’t finding material, it’s getting it where it needs to be.

Our 53-foot flatbed with Moffett forklift allows us to deliver directly to jobsites and place material where builders need it, helping reduce unnecessary handling and saving valuable time.

Beyond service, we also offer a complete engineered wood package from trusted manufacturers:

  • Roseburg LVL for beams and headers
  • Roseburg solid-sawn I-Joists
  • Tolko Rim Board
  • Tolko LSL Studs, including 2×4 and 2×6 up to 24′
  • Roseburg LVL Columns as a cost-effective alternative for many column applications

Whether you’re looking for stock products, special orders, or simply another dependable source, our goal is to provide solutions that help your team succeed.

At the end of the day, engineered wood isn’t just about beams and joists. It’s about helping dealers solve problems, keeping framers productive, and making every project just a little easier. If we can make your job easier, we’ve done ours.
